Hi all, I'm Linda Banche. I live in New England. I like daffodils and pink roses, Christmas lights, aerobics, birds, especially ducks, and most of all romances, especially my favorite, regency romances.

Here in New England we have four seasons, and right now is the one I like the least, summer. Too hot and humid. And it's just started! As far as I'm concerned, the best month is October. Fall in New England is a leafy riot of color. The trees turn the most glorious shades of reds, yellows and oranges. I especially like the fluorescent orange of the sugar maples. The summer heat and humidity are gone, but the days are still warm and the nights cool. Winter is fun as long as I don't have to drive in the snow, and spring has blossoming trees and my most favorite of all flowers, daffodils.

I love daffodils and pink roses. My husband brings me pink roses all year, and he scouts out daffodils in the winter. Christmas is the best holiday of the year, and I love walking around to see all the Christmas lights. A snow-covered night really adds to the atmosphere, but we have to be careful not to slip on the ice.

I like birds in general, but especially ducks. Ducks, as in quack. I'm a duck fanatic. I not only go down to the pond to feed the ducks, I have a house full of duck stuff. Like a duck shower curtain, duck towels, wood, porcelain, ceramic and wood duck figures, stained glass ducks, duck soap, duck clothes hooks, duck pictures, a duck blanket, a duck bedspread and duck curtains among other things.

I also like the turkeys which now come to our yard. Before about five years ago, I had seen wild turkeys only twice. This June, I've not only seen plenty of turkeys, but three mama turkeys and their babies.

But my heart belongs to romance novels. I'm a romance fanatic. I read at least one a week, and sometimes two, and just about all are regencies. I look forward to holidays because then I can read three. My idea of a great weekend is to wallow in romances.

Flowers, romance novels and ducks. What a way to go.

Thanks, Miss Mae, for having me here.

Hi Linda and MM

I have to admit I go a bit 'quakers' over ducks too, Linda, they're such sweet, comical birds, and some of the oriental varieties are really petty. I live near a canal, and in the summer we often go for walks with our little Jack Russell. He's fascinated by ducks and can't take his eyes off them. Whether he's just interested in them swimming or thinking of a change in his menu, I'm not sure.

I love flowers too, and roses of all colours. Daffodils of course are the flower of Wales so they have a special place in my heart.

Hi, Linda--congratulations on being the first Spotlgiht author. And you, too Miss Mae, on your good idea--wish I'd though of it!
Linda, we have one thing in common--loving the pink rose. My favorite flower. Ducks? We don't see those much in Central Texas.
Fall colors--we don't get those either, as our trees are live oak--green year round. I LOVE to drive through Tennessee and Kentucy and Michigan in the fall when we go see grandkids--some years are better than others, but I can hardly wait. Celia

Hi Lyn!

LOL, I can well imagine Bouncer's thoughts as he watches those ducks! Maybe he thinks they're strange chickens? LOL

Yes, I love ducks too, and enjoy watching them waddle and then pause and cock their head at you. I go "quackers" too! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Celia!
I've lived in the south and well know those live oaks you speak of. Majestic trees but yes, nothing can quite beat the beauty of vivid oaks and maples and hickories come Fall. What a panorama of breathless color! :)

Looking forward to your spotlight day too! :)

I like ducks also and the Canada Geese and their babies are just an awesome site. I live now too far from the fork of a river and the wood ducks and mallards are such a joy to watch. Thank you for inviting me to read the blog.

Hi Linda and MM. Linda, I?ve always wanted to visit New England and also love fall and Christmas. I had a pet duck as a child and he was the meanest thing, nipping at our hands and drawing blood. So, unfortunately, we do not share this love. But I adore pink roses, especially the sweetheart kind, daffodils ands romance novels. Thanks for sharing.

I'm pretty taken with ducks, myself, Linda. We have a duck pond within a mile of here, and I've spent many an hour there. They're characters, that's for sure. There is one threesome there we call Daffy, Dizzy and The Broad. Two males and a female together all the time. Of course, the Canadian Geese come with the package, and they're not so pleasant, let's face it. Thanks for your blog. Nic pic.

A New Englander myself. I wholeheartedly agree with you about summer. Ug!

I also love Regencies. The thought of reading two a week is heavenly. I am a bit too busy to manage even one these days. Enjoy your reading. :)

Congrats on being the first highlighted.

Hi Sharon,
I agree about Canadian geese, and love to watch them in flight. Aren't they graceful? :)

Thank you so much for coming by, and here's hoping you come often! :)

Hey there, Sharon!

Sorry, but had to laugh about your misadventure with your duckie! LOL Those beaks do take some careful watching, don't they!

So happy you stopped by, and am looking forward to your day in the spotlight! :)

Hugs!

Hi Gail,
Regency romances bring up visions of Pride and Prejudice, don't they? I was thinking of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy just this morning! :)

Thank you for stopping by, dear lady. Hope your day is great!

Hi Rachel,

Thanks so much for dropping in. As one who detests summer, I whole-heartedly agree about the "ughness" of the season!

Have a great day! :)

I loved this post because I have a huge soft spot for ducks. We live near the water and there are also lagoons within our small city, so ducks are everywhere. The other day I was getting in my car in the local Lucky's parking lot and there was a mama duck with her 6 babies. I had to stop traffic to let her pass and took a bunch of pics of the family with my iPhone. I couldn't get enough of them. When I was little we had a duck and when it was grown we returned it to Lake Merritt in Oakland and I was never so sad!

Hi Lyn, nice to know I'm not the only duck nut out there. And I love duck stories. Glad to hear yours.

As for daffodils, I think you're the only person I've found who likes daffodils as well as roses. You must have tons of them in Wales. Lucky you.

Thanks, Celia. And another person who likes pink roses. If you don't have many ducks in central Texas, I'm sure you have plenty of other great birds. Aren't fall colors special? I'm glad you're able to see them.

Sharon, someone else who likes Canada geese! I just walked down to the river to see them. There's a family with six goslings and the babies are just starting to color up now. You get to see flocks of wood duck? Luck you. I found a mama wood duck and her two babies at the river today, but I don't see them very often.

Hi Sharonad,
You do have to careful with ducks. Although they don't have teeth, they have ridges on the inside of their bills and they can hurt if they bite. A gosling bit me once, and that hurt!

If you ever visit New England, I suggest the fall. The weather is great and the trees are a sight to see. But you can can find daffodils and pink roses and romance novels everywhere. Lucky us!
