Doggy Tales -- Taking in the Sights

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 1:00 AM

We live in the country. There's woods:

And creeks:

Some landmarks:

And some friends:

Did I mention curious friends??

Ahh, you just never know what you might find meandering down old country roads. :)

Always take a camera!

What gorgeous pictures, MM. Your countryside looks very similar to that of the UK - especially my beloveed Wales, especially the woodland.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Gail!

Hubby took the photos one day while out on a bike ride. Yes, we're happy to be in our current location, though some times I'd love to be FURTHER out with just us and nature! :)

Thanks for coming over and leaving a comment. :)

Does it really look like Wales, Lyn? I imagine your country being more isolated (wonderful) and greener and with a distinct, sharp smell of nature. Wish I could visit it someday, I'd love to!

So glad you enjoyed today's post. (I thought you especially might enjoy the horses. :) )

Yes, I absolutely loved the horses MM - in fact that picture reminds me very much of the lane leading down to the stables where I used to keep my horses - there was a field overlooking the path and often the horses would come and look over the fence, just like that. Yes, rural Wales is green and peaceful, smells fresh - and some places are very wild and unpopulated. But there are plenty of farms and villages, especially near the coast, and some of South Wales is quite industrial, but where I lived it was very rural. England is much 'tamer' and although the countrysdie is lovely, it's not so easy to get completely away from the trappings of nature as it is in Wales. I think you and I are definitely kindred spirits, longing for the peace and tranquility of nature!

Hi MM,
This could easily have been our neck of the woods, complete with horses and a few cattle thrown in, up until a few years ago. Now it's housing developments and apartment complexes and scattered businesses. I am so ready to move if the real estate market ever picks back up. Lovely country around you. I really miss our country drive.

Oh Becca, I know just what you mean! Even when we moved here just ten years ago, we strolled past lots where wild morning glories decorated the grass, and watched grasshoppers flitter from spot to spot. Now those are occupied by large houses, the morning glories are gone. I hope the folks who own the farms where the horses graze don't leave and sell out. I think I'd ask to go with them!
